This is a programme for employment in the public or voluntary sectors; it suits graduates with limited experience of employment in public sector organisations and middle or senior managers who wish to add further academic skills and qualifications to their existing vocational and practical expertise; the programme offers education in strategic policy and management relating to the public sector; it examines the interrelationship between public, private and voluntary sectors and focuses in particular on the context of the European Union and its interface with the other tiers of governance and administration.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree in any discipline, or equivalent; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an acceptable English language qualification.

Course modules

Core modules: research skills for management; introduction to research; managing people; public policy; public finance; public management; multi-level governance and administration; dissertation; plus 3 optional modules; e-government; administration and politics of the European Union; strategic human resource management; project management; risk and crisis management; understanding social exclusion.
