Programme and Project Management

The intention is to provide a theoretical and practical exposition of the factors that are necessary for effective project management in todays global and highly competitive markets. In addition, the programme demonstrates how successful project managers perform and deal with complexities and ambiguities associated with the malleable nature of projects. The programme is designed to provide familiarity with fundamental theories of strategic and operational management theory, as well as practicing of management in projects, programmes and portfolios. The programme has a strong business focus reflected in the programme structure and modules which span from strategic thinking to practically planning, executing and controlling programmes and projects with consideration of risk.

Entry requirements

Students are normally expected to hold a university degree in management, engineering, science or related disciplines at 2:1 standard from a UK university, or an equivalent academic qualification from a similar international institution; non graduates with very extensive professional experience and/or other prior qualifications may also be considered; all candidates must meet our required level of English; GCSE Grade C; IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each band); TOEFL Paper 570 TWE of 4-4.5; International Baccalaureate Standard Level (Grade 5); Hong Kong use of English AS level C; INDIA Standard XII 70% or above from Central and Metro State Boards; WAEC C6; Cambridge Proficiency C.

Course modules

Core modules: Project and portfolio management in organisations; planning for risk, uncertainty and complexity; business analysis and assessment; strategic purchasing management; leading and managing project teams; executing, controlling and closing projects; MSc project; mini-project; PgDip project; optional modules: operations modelling and simulation; strategic operations management; total quality management 2; logistics and physical distribution; e-business enterprise systems with sap.
