Accounting and Finance - taught in London at University of Liverpool in London
The programme provides the opportunity for students with a degree in any subject to undertake a diploma in professional studies that will lead them to become a part qualified accountant. This conversion programme also allows students to obtain exemptions from ICAEW and ACCA examinations. This programme includes coverage of a range of topic areas within the disciplines of accounting and finance, including financial reporting, auditing, taxation and business finance. Successful students will gain an understanding of the principles, techniques and applications of accounting and finance through development of technical knowledge and business skills including problem solving, professional judgement, communication and advice. On completion of the programme, students will be actively considered to continue for a further year to complete the MSc Accounting programme which can lead to becoming a fully exam qualified accountant after two years of study.
You will normally need to have the equivalent of a UK Honours degree, at 2.1 level or better in any subject. Alternative qualifications and all non-UK qualifications (which are considered equivalent to a UK Honours degree). Students whose 1st language is not English will require either: An IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component); or TOEFL IBT 88 or above with minimum scores in components: Listening and writing 21; reading 22; speaking 23; or International Baccalaureate Standard Level (Grade 5); or Hong Kong use of English AS Level C; or India Standard XII 70 per cent or above from Central and Metro State Boards; WAEC C4-6.
Semester 1 modules include: Introduction to financial accounting (15 credits); auditing and assurance (15 credits); introduction to management accounting (10 credits); business and finance (10 credits). Semester 2 modules include: Financial reporting (15 credits); strategy in business (10 credits); performance management (10 credits); corporate and business law (10 credits). Summer modules include: Personal and business taxation (15 credits); financial strategy and management (10 credits).
