Basin Studies and Petroleum Geoscience
This programme is concerned with the evolution of depositional systems and landscape to structurally imposed constraints, and with diagenetic processes; petroleum geoscience research is a growth area involving 3D seismic interpretation of departmental systems reservoir characterisation and outcrop modelling. The research is focused on integrated studies coupling sequence stratigraphy, structural geology and sedimentary geochemistry and is split 60:40 between outcrop or modelling work; and subsurface studies.
A 1st degree with minimum 2.1 or equivalent in geology, geophysics, petroleum engineering or related discipline; for the MSc by research work experience may also be taken into consideration; IELTS score of 6.5.
Assessment is by a research project.
