Textile Technology (Technical Textiles)

Our Masters level programmes in Textile Technology aim to develop a high level of understanding of modern textile technology, preparing you for a career in the textile or related industry as a manager or researcher, or for an academic career. Graduates of these programmes are expected to understand the whole process of converting fibre materials to end product and be able to identify and analyse the appropriate materials and production routes for specific end products. You will also have developed the expertise and skill to conduct quality evaluation of textile products.

Entry requirements

Applicants will need to achieve at least a UK 2.2 Honours degree in a Science, Engineering or Technology field. English Language IELTS 6.5, with no sub-test less than 5.5, TOEFL 90 with no sub-test less than 20

Course modules

Modules increase: Technical textiles; textile materials and performance;, Applied Manufacturing Processes, Advanced Colouration and Performance Evaluation, Advanced Manufacturing Techniques, Yarn Technology, Technical textiles, Dissertation.

Sponsorship information

The School offers a number of Manchester Materials Masters (MMM) Scholarships each year to students on the MMM programmes; all scholarships are awarded based on the merit of the application, against the applications of other candidates and so it is advisable to apply early; UK/EU students: may be awarded a MMM Scholarship covering up to 100 per cent of the tuition fee; overseas students: may be awarded a part-tuition fee MMM Scholarship.
