Materials for Demanding Environment

Industry requires materials to perform well in demanding environments. The complex challenges they must contend with need an interdisciplinary approach in order to be tackled effectively. The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Materials for Demanding Environments (M4DE) is a new training and research centre that aims to address complex industrial challenges. The four year course includes taught technical components with professional skills training, as well as a PhD level research project. Industrial partners play an active role in shaping and delivering the training. This CDT will primarily focus on addressing the needs of the Oil and Gas, Aerospace and Nuclear Power industries, and will include cross-sector materials challenges.
