Educational Leadership

The course aims to: develop an understanding of the key issues pertaining to the leadership, management and improvement of schools and educational systems; provide relevant and current theories for examining these issues from a range of perspectives; enable colleagues at all levels within an organisation to diagnose and problem solve key issues related to school improvement.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in a related area; plus initial teaching qualification unless part of the applicant's 1st degree; English language requirements: IELTS 7.0, TOEFL 600 (paper-based) or 250 (computer-based), with 4.5 in test of written English.

Course modules

Modules include: Leadership and management of schools as organisations; leadership and management of people in schools; research methods in educational leadership and school improvement; the management of human resources; school improvement; school effectiveness; management of development and change in education; independent supervised study module.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by 8 X 3,000 word assignments and a dissertation of 12,000 - 15,000 words.

1 Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme award for postgraduate taught programmes.
