Geographical Information Science
This course develops an advanced knowledge of, and practical experience in, geographical information science.
A 1st or Upper 2nd Class degree or its international equivalent; IELTS 7.0 or more overall with a minimum writing score of 7; or TOEFL (paper-based) 600 with a minimum score in test of written English of 5; or TOEFL (computer-based) 250 with a minimum essay rating of 5; or an NCUK PMP EAP grade A.
Modules include: Skills for geographical information science; fundamentals of information and information systems; environmental remote sensing; introducing information systems in organisations; GIS and environmental applications; generic research and personal skills; dissertation; optional modules include: environmental monitoring and modeling; concepts and practice; information technologies and human resources; e-government; issues in the management of information systems; applied study unit; politics and development.
Assessment includes a 15000-word dissertation on an approved topic; oral presentations; essays; project work; reports.
