Transnational Dispute Resolution

The course is premised on a wide understanding of the concept of dispute. On the one hand, it focuses on the contemporary rules, procedures and practices of international courts and tribunals, including the International Court of Justice, interstate and mixed arbitration tribunals, investment dispute resolution mechanisms like ICSID, or the WTO dispute settlement mechanisms. On the other hand, it deals with mechanisms allowing the settlement of disputes which are of an hybrid nature, partly international, partly domestic.

Entry requirements

A minimum upper second Class honours degree, or the equivalent, in law. Students whose first language is not English are required to hold one of the following English language qualifications: IELTS: minimum overall score of 7.0, with 7.0 in Writing and 6.5 in all other sub categories; TOEFL (Internet-Based Test): minimum overall score of 100, with 25 in Writing and 22 in all other sub categories; Cambridge Proficiency: minimum grade of C; Pearson English: minimum overall score of 66, with 66 in Writing and 59 in all other sub categories.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by standard methods - either one unseen written examination, or one coursework essay, or a combination of these two methods of assessment.
