Economics and Econometrics

This programme aims to provide training in modern theories in economics and econometrics at the postgraduate level; it covers both macroeconomic and microeconomic theory by providing a course unit in mathematical economics.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree in economics or related subject, or equivalent; relevant professional experience may be taken into account; those whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 623/263.

Course modules

Modules include: Microeconomic theory; macroeconomic theory; advanced econometric theory; topics in advanced econometrics; time series econometrics; cross section econometrics; applied econometrics; econometric computing; and mathematical economics.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by a dissertation.

Sponsorship information

Awards from the ESRC are available in amounts that vary by nationality; there are of 2 types "1+3" (providing for 1 year Master's followed by 3 years PhD) and "+3" (providing for 3 years PhD).
