Dental Implantology (Dental Specialties)

This programme is concerned with the replacement of missing teeth and supporting oral tissues with dental implants; the programme aims to provide dental practitioners with a broad dental-implant experience.

Entry requirements

A primary dental qualification from a recognised institution and acceptable levels of literacy in English; 2 years' experience in general professional practice; full membership of the general dental council (UK) and should currently be working in practice in the UK, full or part time, IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6 in the written component, TOEFL 575 paper-based or 230 computer-based.

Course modules

Modules include: Implant basic sciences; basic implant surgical and restorative techniques parts 1 and 2; implant treatment planning; advanced implant surgical and restorative techniques; research methods and biostatistics; research project.

Assessment methods

Assessment takes the form of 2 tutor-marked assignments and participation in specified online group activities. Biostatistics unit: MSc: Formal assessment takes the form of two tutor-marked assignments; dissertation.
