Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics (Dental Specialities)
This programme provides a systematic understanding of the role of research in fixed and removable prosthodontics, to enable students to evaluate and critically solve problems, demonstrate sound judgement in clinical prosthodontics, and show initiative and personal responsibility in undertaking and completing a research project.
Applicants require evidence of a primary dental qualification from a recognised institution; for students whose 1st language is not English, one of the following is required: a minimum IELTS of 6.5 with no less than 6 in the written component; TOEFL: 577 paper-based 233 computer-based ,90 iBT, Pearson Test 59-65.
Modules include: The clinical and technical skills unit; the scientific understanding of fixed and removable prosthodontics 1 and 2; the diagnosis and treatment planning unit; the reflective prosthodontic practice and the contemporary prosthodontic techniques; research methods component; biostatistics component.
Assessment is based on patient logs; submission of clinical and technical skills work; written assignments and structured essay papers; multiple short answer (MSA); single best answer (SBA) and extended matching question (EMQ) papers; objective structured long examination record (OSLER); mini-case write-ups and; structured oral examinations. Students also submit a dissertation.
