Pharmaceutical Industrial Advanced Training

Our part-time distance learning Pharmaceutical Industrial Advanced Training (PIAT) course is ideal if you are a scientist or manager working in the fields of product development, manufacturing and quality assurance. Developed in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry, the course offers both industry-recognised qualifications validated by a leading university and the training required for Qualified Person recognition. The nature of the course allows you to continue to work while gaining an MSc, PGDip or PGCert. There are four pathways to choose from depending on your area of expertise and/or interest: •Clinical Trials •Industrial Pharmacy •Pharmaceutical Business Development and Licensing •Pharmaceutical Microbiology.

Entry requirements

Access to PIAT is open to all. There are no special entry requirements if you want to study individual units as part of your personal development programme.
Our pharmaceutical industry programme is an advanced level programme and some units require advanced level knowledge of physical and organic chemistry, biology and mathematics. All units require some work and experience within the industry.

To study for a Postgraduate Diploma or the MSc degree, you should have a degree level scientific qualification. If you do not already have the required qualifications to study for the Postgraduate Diploma, you can join this programme when you have proved your ability by earning four unit credits.
