This course provides students with the opportunity to experience research projects over a broad range of disciplines and laboratory environments. The programme allows students to gain research experience and professional skills, sometimes in a different area to their 1st degree, before deciding on a future career in industry or academic research.
A 1st or 2.1 Honours degree, or the overseas equivalent, in a relevant science subject; for applicants whose 1st language is not English an IELTS score of 6.5 in each component, TOEFL 577 (paper based), TOEFL 233 (computer based) or TOEFL 90 (internet based) is required as a minimum.
Modules include: Tutorial and workshop; research placement 1; research placement 2; communication skills; scientific communication; statistics and experimental design; pgt advisor meeting 1; pgt advisor meeting 2; pgt advisor meeting 3; pgt advisor meeting 4 placement 2.
Assessment is by research projects.
Up to 12 Research Council supported studentships are available on a competitive basis to the best qualified UK and EU applicants. The Faculty offers a limited number of competitive bursaries.
