Economics

This is a specialist programme which provides students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required to successfully work in the economics field. This course is suitable for graduates of Economics who aspires to a career in a global institution such as the World Bank, the UN, the OECD or NGOs, in government departments in a range of countries or in roles supporting business analysis in organisations of all sizes.

Entry requirements

Students normally need to hold a recognised 1st or 2nd Class Bachelors' degree in Economics. At least 50 per cent of the undergraduate degree must normally be made up of modules in Economics. If English is not the 1st language, students need to demonstrate that they meet the minimum English language requirement of IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent).

Course modules

Advanced microeconomics; advanced macroeconomics; econometrics; research for economists; development economics; public policy; financial economics; environmental economics; health economics; the political economy of East Africa.

Assessment methods

Written reports, seminar presentations, poster presentations, examinations and research projects.
