This award is designed to support successful GTP graduates in the further professional development of their practice towards Master's level, firmly embedding their academic work in the context of their professional teaching in their employing school.
Applicants must have QTS status through the Graduate Teacher Programme or School Direct route and an assessed professional portfolio, this portfolio must: evidence their QTS and how they have met the Teaching Standards; demonstrate a commitment to CPD; include support for the application from a Head Teacher. Applicants should normally be currently teaching in a school whilst participating in the course. Applications from those who are not currently teaching will be considered on a case-by-case basis; individuals in this situation must be able to find a school in which to undertake small-scale classroom based enquiry for the second module of the programme.
Level 7 Master's level module (30 credits): A critical reflection on personal learning experiences, theories of learning and professional practice is explored through 2 written assignments. Master's level module (30 credits): A small scale case study research project carried out in the candidate's school in which they are employed.
Students will be assessed via assignments submitted periodically throughout the year, including: reflective pieces of writing, essays and a small scale research project.
