Primary 3-7 and 5-11

This course trains students to teach primary 3-7 and 5-11. The programme will lead to Postgraduate Certificate or Professional Graduate Certificate with QTS.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree from a UK University (or equivalent) and whenever possible the classification should be a 2.1 or 1st. Secondary applicants must have a degree which is relevant to their chosen subject. You will need to provide evidence, usually a school headed letter, of a minimum 10 days experience in a school/setting (within the last 2 years) in a mainstream nursery or school, which follows the National Curriculum, prior to application. We recommend gaining experience across both key stages in your chosen age range. A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above and these must include Mathematics, English Language and Science for all Primary 3-7 and Primary 5-11 applicants. Applicants must pass the National College for Teaching and Learning (NCTL) professional skills tests in numeracy and literacy prior to enrolling on the programme.

Assessment methods

There are 4 assignments, including class based enquiries, action planning and critical reflection, which are linked to developing professional skills and knowledge as a future teacher.
