Leather Technology (Professional)

The course provides a learning environment and community in which students can develop their interest in leather technology, whilst having the freedom to choose a learning path that most closely fits their requirements. The course focuses on the science and technology behind leather manufacture and delves into the chemistry relevant to leather. The course allows for marketing, sustainability and business management to be explored using the leather industry as a context. The programme is divided into 3 stages, to complete the Master's level qualification, students must complete up to 6 modules and an independent research dissertation. During the course, students complete 4 core modules and choose up to 3 optional modules. This ensures that students have a basic understanding of principles pertinent to the leather industry, however they are able to tailor the course to suit their particular needs and career aspirations.

Entry requirements

Applicants normally hold a recognised 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree from a UK university or international equivalent in a relevant subject area. Students with lower level qualifications or qualifications in a different subject area, but relevant experience in the leather industry will also be considered on an individual basis.
