Students are required to construct a course in negotiation with their supervisor by drawing on the research areas in the list of directed study topics. All students are required to attend at least 1 of the core methodological and theoretical modules on the MA Modern and Contemporary German Studies, and to take generic training modules in the Graduate School.

Entry requirements

2.1 (or international equivalent) in an arts, humanities or social science subject. For PhD level study, applicants should hold, or be working towards, a Master's degree in a relevant subject. IELTS 7.0 (no less than 6.5 in any element).

Assessment methods

Assessment includes essays and a dissertation.
