Musicology and Music Theory

The Department offers a broad range of expertise in musicology, composition and performance, with particular research strengths in: music on stage and screen; early music; music in contemporary culture; other areas of expertise include: the music of South East Asia; globalisation; 19th-century music; music and language; historical performance practice; proposals for postgraduate research in any of the areas familiar to the staff in the Department are welcome.

Entry requirements

2.1 Honours degree, or equivalent qualification, or a Masters degree; evidence of English language proficiency, e.g. IELTS qualification, for those whose 1st language is not English.

Assessment methods

60000-word thesis for the MPhil and 100000 word thesis for the PhD.
