Russian and Slavonic Studies

The department offers excellent research supervision for both MPhil and PhD, full time and part time and has internationally-recognised expertise in Russian culture and Serbian and Croatian studies. Specific areas of research on the Russian side are: theatre; humour and satire; poetry; women's writing; early 20th-century literary movements; film; gender studies; socialist realism and Soviet and post-Soviet cultural studies. Expertise in Serbian/Croatian studies include: Serbian and Croatian literature, literary and cultural theory; modern cultural studies; the relationship of literature to culture and ideology in small nations; and methodological issues in literary history.

Entry requirements

2.1 (or international equivalent) in an arts, humanities or social science subject. For PhD-level study, applicants should hold, or be working toward, a Master's degree in a relevant subject. IELTS 7.0 (no less than 6.5 in any element).
