Chemical Engineering

This course provides advanced studies in chemical engineering that reflect the broad areas of research expertise and scholarship in the School of Chemical, Environmental and Mining Engineering. In particular, applications in the areas of advanced chemical engineering, computer-aided process engineering and environmental engineering are offered. Students gain skills in advanced engineering practice, which includes design, operations, problem-solving and practical elements. The advanced practice is centred on themes in energy and environmental applications, so students can also gain significant experience in the areas such as petroleum processing, energy efficiency, carbon capture and water treatment.

Entry requirements

2.1 degree (or international equivalent) in engineering/chemical engineering; applicants with a high 2.2 with substantial work experience may be considered. English language requirements: IELTS 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any element).

Course modules

Core modules: MSc project; process synthesis and design; advanced rheology and materials; multiphase systems; advanced reaction engineering; process risk analysis; group development project; research planning; Optional modules may include: power generation and carbon capture; water treatment engineering; advanced computational methods; computational fluid dynamics; petroleum production engineering; energy storage.
