Usability and Human Computer Interaction (HCI)
This course is for those who need to apply the knowledge of the role of human factors/ergonomics in the design, evulation and use of interactive systems.It will provide an understanding of the key issues related to the design, evaluation and use of user centered technologies and provide students with additional resources to facilitate the learning process. The distance learning format means that most of the material and background reading can be undertaken in the students' own time but with access to and support from university staff.
A 2.1 or international equivalent is required. For students for who English is not their 1st language, one of the following is required: IELTS 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in any element or TOEFL IBT minimum 87 with no less than 21 in listening and writing, 22 in reading and 23 in speaking.
The course consists of two 30 credit modules, each studied over 6 months: human factors in interactive systems and practical ergonomics investigation.
