The course develops nurses who can practice at advanced level and offers a programme of study derived from full professional practice; it is designed to attract a rich mix of home and international students from a variety of nursing backgrounds; it has been designed in partnership with health service colleagues to ensure the course is grounded in the realities of contemporary nursing practice; undertaking the course can benefit nurses from any area of health care who wish to improve and advance practice in their field.
A minimum of a 2nd Class Honours degree, or an equivalent qualification and evidence of relevant personal, professional and educational experience; applicants for the full-time programme must hold a 1st or 2nd class Honours degree in nursing or other relevant topic; all applicants must be qualified nurses, usually with a minimum of 2 years experience in nursing practice; IELTS:6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each element); TOEFL IBT:87 with no less than 21 in listening, 22 in reading, 23 in speaking and 21 in writing.
Core modules: advancing nursing practice 1 and 2; applied biological sciences; evidence for health and social care; theoretical foundations of advanced nursing; evaluating interventions, services and policy; principles of systematic review; project proposal; professional development for clinical leadership; research; dissertation project.
