Clinical Psychology

The course has 3 main components: University based academic teaching, service based practice learning, and clinically relevant research. University based teaching takes place over 2 semesters: the 1st (September to January) is based at the University of Lincoln; the 2nd (February to June) is based at the University of Nottingham's Institute of Work, Health and Organisations. Practice learning takes place throughout the year and is based at placements in services in Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Research is conducted throughout the programme leading to the completion of a doctoral thesis and the completion of a small scale research project.

Entry requirements

A 1st or 2.1 degree (or international equivalent) in psychology that is recognised as providing GBC (Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership) with the BPS (British Psychological Society); candidates with a lower 2nd Class Honours degree or other equivalent qualification may be considered if they have a postgraduate degree at Master's level or higher. English language requirements: IELTS 7.5 (no less than 7.0 in any element).

Modules include: individual client interventions; research design and implementation; research project; professional skills; groups, families and indirect work; systems and organisations; topics in clinical psychology; further developments in therapeutic approaches; core placement a; core placement b; specialist placement; final placement; research analysis and dissemination; research project design; research project implementation; small scale research project; foundation placement a; foundation placement b.
