The majority of the research work is carried out in Malaysia; throughout the project, particular emphasis is placed on the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of results; examples of potential research projects are: a comparative study of photosynthesis and water use efficiency in rice and maize; photosynthetic response to temperature in 2 contrasting landraces of bambara groundnut; genetic identity and other quality assessment of 4 popular bean varieties from East Africa and Central America.
Candidates applying to join MPhil or other research Master's programmes (eg MRes, MA/MSc (by research)) would normally be expected to hold an Honours degree at 2.2 level or above (or international equivalent) in an appropriate subject; candidates are generally required to submit a research proposal with their applications.
