Risk Management

The course focuses on the problems that risk poses for corporations. It is particularly appropriate for anyone interested in a career in risk, insurance or general management. Applicants for the course normally have studied or are studying a substantial component of management, economics, accounting, finance or business in their degree course.

Entry requirements

2.1 (or international equivalent) in management, economics or business studies; English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element).

Course modules

Semester 1 core modules: introduction to research methods; further quantitative research methods; risk analysis. Plus 1 from: managerial economics; managing people and organisations; project management. Semester 2 core modules: corporate risk; theory of risk and insurance. plus 2 from: behavioural economics and decision making; corporate governance; corporate strategy; financial econometrics; industrial economics; quantitative risk management; risk management in financial institutions; service operations management. Summer: dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is a combination of individual essay or group project and written examination.
