Business

The Business School offers four PhD pathways: Business and Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Finance and Risk, and Industrial Economics. You will be supported by two academic supervisors who are experts in your area, and have at least 10 meetings a year. There are also workshops and other events to help develop your skills as a researcher as well as access to excellent facilities to aid your studies. Nottingham PhD students are among the most successful in the country according to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), and many graduates go on to work in top research universities, for multi-national corporations worldwide, or are running their own business.

Entry requirements

For MRes courses applicants should hold a 2.1 (or international equivalent) in a relevant subject; for PhD courses applicants should hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject as well as an Honours degree in a relevant disciple at 2.1 (or international equivalent) level or above; English language requirements: IELTS 7.0 (no less than 6.0 in any element).

Research at the Business School is organised around divisions, centres and institutes comprising: accounting and finance; entrepreneurship; industrial economics; information systems; marketing; operations management; organisational behaviour and HRM strategy and the research centres and institutes; Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute (TTRI); University of Nottingham Institute for Enterprise and Innovation (UNIEI); University of Nottingham Tax Research Institute (UNTRI); Centre for Europe-Asia Business Research (CEABuR); Centre for Enterprise Systems Research (CESR); Centre for Management Buyout Research (CMBOR); Centre for Public Leadership and Management (CPLM); Centre for Quality in the Global Supply Chain (CQGSC); Centre for Risk and Insurance Studies (CRIS); International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR); Centre for Concurrent Enterprise (CCE); European Risk Research Network (ERRN).
