Information Systems and Operations Management

This course combines the study of information systems with operations management, emphasising the creative potential of information technology for innovation and change. It provides a thorough grounding in the principles and practice of information systems. Students will also be educated in the key operations management challenges in contemporary organisations, including the challenges in supply chain management.

Entry requirements

2.1 (or international equivalent) in an engineering, science or business related subject. English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element).

Course modules

Semester 1 core modules: fundamentals of management information systems; management science for decision support; managing contemporary operations: fundamentals and challenges; project management. Semester 2 core modules: business intelligence and analytics; e-business; management information systems: theory to practice. Optional modules: international transport and logistics; management science for decision support 2; procurement and purchasing; quality management and quality techniques; service operations management; simulation; supply chain and operations strategy and practice. Summer: dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is a combination of individual essay or group project and written examination.
