Management Science and Operations Management
Management science (also known as operations research) covers models, methods and techniques used to address a wide range of management decision problems in business, industry and the public sector. Modelling is at the core of management science. This course introduces you to a range of quantitative, qualitative and conceptual models that can be applied to different management and business problems. It emphasises the increasing trend to apply analytics in business and management, exploiting management science methods, IT tools and the availability of data. The course focuses on applications in operations management, which is a core application domain for management science methods and techniques. Students will also receive a thorough grounding in the key operations management challenges in contemporary organisations and supply chains. The course is suitable for you if you want to pursue a career in management science and/or operations management, whether or not you have a first degree in a closely-related area. We welcome applications from graduates in business and management, engineering, computer science and related disciplines. Students will need some quantitative skills to excel on the course but the most essential requirement is the ability to analyse problems in a structured way.
