Entry requirements

Entry requirements: 2.1 (upper 2nd Class Honours degree from British University or international equivalent) including: management, economics, business studies or finance; personal statement and a list of modules being studied in the final year (for applicants who have not yet completed their Bachelor's degree). For applicants whose 1st language is not English: IELTS:6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element); Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic:62 (minimum 55).

Course modules

Semester 1: Core modules: bank theory and operations; introduction to research methods; further quantitative research methods; risk analysis. Semester 2: Core modules: bank modelling and performance analysis; corporate risk. Choose a minimum of 1 module and a maximum of 2 modules from this group subject to meeting any pre-requisites: corporate governance; corporate strategy; entrepreneurship and venture capital; financial econometrics; financial reporting; financial security valuation; financial services: context, consumers and markets industrial economics; innovation and policy; international finance; quantitative risk management; risk management in financial institutions; theory of risk and insurance. Choose no more than 1 further module from the list of Business School MSc optional modules.

Assessment methods

Each taught module typically consists of 10, 2 or 3 hour sessions. Assessment is a combination of individual essay or group project and written examination. The remaining 60 credits of this course are allocated to an independent dissertation, which is completed over the summer period for submission in September.
