Educational Leadership and Management
The course is designed for those who are interested in or presently working as middle and senior managers and leaders in schools and other educational organisations in the UK and internationally; it improves understandings of leadership practices in national and international social, cultural, political and policy contexts, strengthens knowledge of leadership and change management, utilises existing and emerging international research-informed knowledge of educational leadership, engages in critical discussion of a range of practices in the leadership and management of other adults in organisations, enables a deeper critical understanding of the organisation and the environment in which course members operate, promotes the development of the students and their organisation; the course focuses on supporting practice-based inquiry through which theories may be applied to practice in the workplace.
Students would normally be expected to hold an Honours degree at 2.2 or above, or its international equivalent; applicants with qualifications other than a 1st degree who have an approved professional qualification, or those with non-standard applications, are considered on an individual basis; if English is not the 1st language, students must achieve an overall score on the British Council IELTS test of at least 6.5, with no less than 6.0 in each element, or a TOEFL iBT score of 87 (minimum 20 in speaking and 19 in all other elements).

Assessment is based on a dissertation.
