This course allows students to conduct in-depth research into a science, technological or social science focused aspect of geography; the creation of a major supervised thesis underpins the course, but students also have the opportunity to develop generic research training skills by registering on prescribed taught courses run either by the School of Geography or the Graduate School; the main assessment of the degree is a supervised thesis focusing on a science, technological or social science aspect of geography; this is a research degree, but requires students to undertake at least 20 credits of generic research training; a maximum of 60 taught credits may be taken on this degree with the balance consisting of a thesis, supervised within the School of Geography.
