The programme covers the key professional skills of: lesson and course planning and preparation; assessment, recording and reporting; responding to individual learning needs; classroom and behaviour management; the course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Relevant degree and GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent, in mathematics; Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enhanced disclosure.
Topics include: specialist studies in the principal subject area; core programme of activities related to cross-curricular whole-school topics such as: teaching and assessing the National Curriculum; the teacher's pastoral role; inclusion; option modules include: additional learning needs; citizenship; drama; education in developing countries; workshops to support information and communication technology.
