Professional Design Practice
This course provides a combined study of the latest issues regarding legislation, contracts, management and practice within the architecture profession. It aims to modernise your outlook and judgement regarding management of architectural practice, the design and procurement of building processes and the operational relationships between the architect, client, contractor and associated bodies.
A minimum of a 2nd Class Honours degree in interior design, interior architecture and design, architecture or a related subject, or equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications. A portfolio of professional work may be required. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.
Core modules include: Project management; practice management; topical research. Optional modules include: Materials and products and professional experience and practice; research methods and thesis.
You will be assessed on the course work you complete, this could include: essays, thesis projects, design projects, reflective journals and portfolios. One of the optional units (professional experience and practice) also includes a written examination, which is designed to test your knowledge of professional practice and processes, your ability to apply knowledge in practice and the quality of your professional judgements.
