Secondary Education (Art and Design)
The course is intended to ensure that students: broaden subject knowledge and skills in art and design and learn how to apply them in the classroom; develop planning, teaching and evaluating skills of a high order; develop knowledge and understanding of a range of theories, practices and issues in art and design education; develop a reflective, self-critical approach to teaching and to students own professional development; each teacher trainee is supported throughout the programme by an art and design subject method tutor, and by experienced mentors in the University's partnership schools.
Honours degree in an art, craft or design discipline; graduates in the history of art or design are considered if they can provide evidence of studio-based enquiry & practical expertise to degree level; GCSE minimum grade C or equivalent in mathematics, English language & science; interview.
