International Relations

Supervision for research students is available in subjects such as political theory; comparative politics; international relations; and strategic studies. Research students are provided with training in research methods (unless they have taken a recognised programme elsewhere) and close supervision. There is also a series of research seminars in which students are invited to participate.

Entry requirements

Doctor of Philosophy - PhD: Students should have a 2.1 degree or above (or equivalent from a university outside the UK). Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.5.

Master of Philosophy - MPhil: Philosophical issues in the social sciences; introduction to research methods in politics and international relations; introduction to quantitative methods in politics and international relations; international relations; international security studies; contemporary diplomacy; politics of public policy; strategic theorists; strategic practice; conflict in the Middle East; terrorism in a globalising world; public ethics; parliamentary studies.
