Food Security and Development

Prepare for a career in the international food security and development sectors. This programme provides a multi-disciplinary understanding of the structure and operation of food systems in developing countries, and how these systems interact with human development policies and interventions at international, national and local levels. Develop a multidisciplinary understanding of how food systems work in developing countries, and the main drivers of global food insecurity, malnutrition and poverty; build your knowledge of how food systems interact with institutions and development policies at international, national and local levels; and gain the conceptual and practical skills necessary for the analysis and development of planned food security interventions. As a part of this course, you have the option to enrol in free, complementary Innovative Food Systems Teaching and Learning (IFSTAL) programme. The course is suitable for graduates from most disciplines. **Careers** Our programmes are excellent preparation for careers in international and rural development, agricultural economics, and marketing within the food chain and policy. 96% of our graduates are in work or further study six months after graduating. Engagement with a wide variety of visiting speakers and field trips provides many opportunities for networking.
