Research areas include: Extreme environments (e.g arctic, mountain, desert, rainforest) and environments that are particularly sensitive to change (e.g glacial). Current projects include: the impact of climate change on peri-glacial landforms (UK and Norway) and valley glaciers (Eurasia); and modelling land degradation and dryland geomorphology from satellite imagery in Africa and the Middle-East. Current research includes labour market practices; geographies of children; youth and families, sexuality, disability and space; migration; urban and regional development as well as projects in landscapes and planning; climate change, policy and protected areas; green infrastructure and environmental management; interactions between employers' recruitment strategies and young people's ideas of the labour market; the politics of local economic development with particular reference to devolution and business agendas; access to water in Jordan; an analysis of the experiences of second generation return migrants and landscape planning in Cyprus. Entry requirements

Doctor of Philosophy - PhD: An Honours degree; applications welcomed from applicants with backgrounds in social sciences; or in biological; physical or earth sciences.
