Choreography and Performance

Deepen your choreographic or performance practice through studio-based enquiry and research informed by contemporary theoretical concerns. Practice as research is a growing area for experienced dance artists, choreographers and performers who want to deepen their practice and strengthen their profile. Run by leading artist-scholars, the course supports enquiry through studio practice and research informed by contemporary theoretical concerns. You will also retain the flexibility to continue your professional practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants should demonstrate that they have a significant history (normally not less than 5 years) of professional performance and/or choreographic practice. Students will be encouraged to maintain their professional activity throughout the programme, and this will normally contribute to their portfolio/dissertation work. Mature students with a significant track record as a performer or choreographer, but who lack a relevant undergraduate degree will also be considered; in such cases evidence of academic writing ability is required. All UK based applicants will be interviewed in person. For international students a telephone or Skype interview will be arranged. Applicants for whom English is not their 1st language will need to meet the University's language requirements for postgraduate study.
