Secondary Education (Geography)

This programme is for graduates intending to teach their specialist subject within 11-16 age range. There are 2 components: School-based experience includes observation of experienced teachers at work, team teaching, working with whole class and with small groups. University-based studies are subject-focused but contain element of general professional studies common to all subjects (these are taught in mixed subject groups).

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a single subject degree in geography or a joint degree in which geography forms the major part; it is expected that places will be offered to candidates with a 2.1 or above; interviews will include a discussion of the value of fieldwork in geography at secondary school.
