Television and Radio Scriptwriting

This course is a hands-on writing course for students who want to specialise in dramatic scriptwriting for TV and radio. It is aimed at those who wish to develop writing skills to professional standards. Students will also be able to work on a one-to-one basis with a professional scriptwriter on their final project.

Entry requirements

A degree, grade 2.2 or above. Students are required to submit 2 pieces of writing work (at least 1 must be a film or television script) with the application form. There is no minimum length to submitted written work but all work must tell a complete story. Applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully are welcomed.

Course modules

Modules include: The craft and technique of script-writing; process and creativity in script-writing, radio drama; continuing series, comedy or horror/fantasy; project.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes: Scripts (70 per cent); essays (20 per cent); reflective statements/critical analysis (10 per cent).
