Literature, Culture and Modernity
This course helps you acquire specific skills in areas including critical thinking, research methods, cultural and literary theory and analysing literary texts in the context of modernity. You will develop your analytical and conceptual thinking skills and gain the expertise to focus on a specific research topic that interests you.
A degree in an appropriate subject, grade 2.2 or above. We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully. Students whose 1st language is not English will need to provide evidence of proficiency in the English language.
Modules include: Theory, text and writing; literary research practice; modernity and cultural form; literary research practice; Anthony Burgess and his contemporaries; dissertation.
Assessment is through written and oral assignments (66 per cent) and written dissertation (34 per cent).
