This course gives you the opportunity to follow one of 4 specialist pathways: Composition; performance; critical musicology or interactive music and advanced studio production. You will also be exposed to a breadth of genres and encouraged to collaborate.
A degree, grade 2.2 or above, preferably in music. Applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully are welcomed.
Modules include: Composition, performance and the musical text; composition techniques; individual performance; critical and theoretical positions; advanced studio composition and production techniques; applied composition techniques; group interaction in performance; subject specific evaluation; interactive and emergent music programming techniques; ethnomusicology theories and techniques; community music theories and techniques; negotiated final project.
Assessment is based on examination; coursework; portfolio.
