Trauma and Orthopaedics
This course addresses the needs of orthopaedic trainees and of experienced non-medical health professionals who have been training/developing in their clinical roles. Students will have access to expertise in clinical assessment, rehabilitation, spinal pathology and biomechanics as well as specialist surgical skills workshops and will gain an orthopaedic and sports trauma focus.
Applicants should be orthopaedic doctors with MBBCh or equivalent or graduates with an appropriate healthcare degree. Prospective students will usually be required to have achieved a 2.1 degree, but consideration will be given to students with a 2.2 with appropriate experience and satisfactory references. Applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully are welcomed.
Modules include: Lower limb orthopaedics knowledge and skills; upper limb orthopaedics knowledge and skills; spinal orthopaedics; applied biomechanics; dissertation.
Assessment methods include: written assignments; objective structured clinical examination; case presentation/study; literature review; objective structured clinical examination; assignment.
