Applied Psychology (Therapies)
This course provides insight into the causes of addiction and how cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other psychotherapies can be used to help address stress, depression, chronic pain and other disorders. It is particularly relevant if you want to develop your understanding of psychological therapy beyond the basic level offered in some professional qualification courses.
A degree, grade 2.1 or above, or equivalent in psychology or other health/social care related discipline. We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully. Students whose 1st language is not English will need to provide evidence of proficiency in the English language.
Modules include: Advanced research methods; psychological therapies for common mental health disorders; addictive behaviour; cognitive behaviour therapy and physical health; dissertation.
Assessment is in a variety of ways including: theoretical essays; reflective essays; research proposal; dissertation.
