Media Psychology

This course will enable students to explore the psychological effects of media, how media use can be researched and evaluated, and how to communicate with different audiences across different media. This is the only dedicated postgraduate course in the UK focusing on the relationship between media and psychology from both academic and professional perspectives.

Entry requirements

A degree, grade 2.1 or above, in psychology, media studies or social sciences. Applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully are welcomed.

Course modules

Modules include: Professional, contemporary and ethical issues in media psychology; media psychology research methods; psychology of media communication; psychology of human computer interaction, usability and user experience; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment takes a number of forms including: essay; research proposal; presentation; written project; industry-style report; dissertation.
