Advanced Practice (Health and Social Care)

This course uses a work-based learning approach to develop the higher-level skills that will lead to advanced practitioner status and enhance your career prospects.

Entry requirements

Applicants will be graduates in health and/or social care with a degree, grade 2.2 or equivalent, work in an area that will support and facilitate the development of advanced practice and have a written agreement with your employer for minimum learning and financial support. We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully. Students whose 1st language is not English will require evidence of proficiency in the English language.

Course modules

Modules include: Pathophysiology; clinical examination; independent learning; non-medical prescribing; project management and methods of inquiry; practitioner competence; clinical reasoning.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes: Self-assessment; peer-assessment; practice-based assessments; critical reflective commentaries; portfolio of evidence; viva voce; poster presentations; service delivery and organisational assessment and redesign; assessed essays; client management plans; written reports; unseen examinations.
