Leadership and Management for Health Care Practice

This course is aimed at healthcare professionals who want to develop the knowledge, skills and qualities to be an effective healthcare leader. It will give you the confidence to try creative approaches to the workplace, deal with complex leadership situations and provide effective outcomes.

Entry requirements

A degree, grade 2.1 or above, or equivalent academic or professional qualification (if applicable) from the UK or elsewhere, incorporating study at least comparable to 120 credits at Honours level. Applicants must have satisfactory references related to the intended vocational course regarding their ability to complete the course and appropriate position within their organisation. Students whose 1st language is not English will need to provide evidence of proficiency in the English language.

Course modules

Modules include: Leading and managing in health care organisations; the 'me' in leadership for health care practice; leading change for patient and/or service improvements; project management and methods of enquiry for health care practice; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes: Written assignments; patchwork text assessment; presentations; writing of a business case; viva voce (presentation and justification of the business case); critical commentary to understand own leadership and management personal development.
