Diabetes Care

This course provides a balance between theoretical and clinical skills and aims to develop participants' levels of critical enquiry so you can deliver high quality evidence-based care to people with diabetes. You will also be encouraged to develop your critical thinking, understanding of research methods and to evaluate the contemporary approaches to diabetes care.

Entry requirements

A degree, grade 2.2 or above, or equivalent in an appropriate subject; an equivalent academic or professional qualification from the UK or elsewhere, i.e. incorporating study at least comparable to 120 credits at level 6; a Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate from a UK university. Students whose 1st language is not English will require evidence of proficiency in the English language.

Course modules

Modules include: Diagnosis, classification and prevention of diabetes; therapeutic advances in diabetes and self-care management; diabetes complications and management in marginalized groups; research methods; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through written assignment; practical work in Simulation Laboratory and reflection; presentation; written dissertation.
